Civil Society Leaders Advocate for Female Condom Access in Uganda
Tuesday, June 30, 2009 - Last week, CHANGE, in partnership with the Global Campaign for Microbicides, facilitated a three-day advocacy workshop in Kampala, Uganda among civil society advocates aimed at expanding access to female condoms in the country. Ugandan advocates representing HIV/AIDS service organizations, women's rights groups, domestic violence advocates, and faith-based groups practiced key advocacy skills and put them into practice, meeting with donors, including USAID and UNFPA and the Ministry of Health to ensure civil society involvement in the planned re-launch of the female condom this fall.

CHANGE Reflects on the Murder of Dr. Tiller
Tuesday, June 2, 2009 - The Center for Health and Gender Equity (CHANGE) is deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. George Tiller's life, and the brutal act of violence that ended his life. Frances Kissling, CHANGE's newly elected Board Chair, wrote an important article honoring Tiller's life of service to women and adolescent girls in the United States, and considers the implications of how "some religious leaders provide a moral frame for immoral acts and others remain silent," calling on the religious community to make clear that the world's religions do not consider abortion murder. Serra Sippel, President of CHANGE, was featured on ABC World News in reaction to this tragedy and the pattern of violence against abortion providers.

CHANGE Applauds US Government's Statement at UN Commission
Wednesday, April 1, 2009 - Today, the Center for Health and Gender Equity (CHANGE) applauded the US Government's statement at the UN Commission on Population and Development in New York, in which it clearly and boldly stated the Administration's commitment to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and human rights. This is an important start to ensuring that US-funded reproductive health and HIV/AIDS programs in developing countries are based in human rights and evidence, and meet the evolving health needs of individuals throughout the life cycle.
